This year's hospitality winners have been decided
It’s that time of the year again. The results are finally in. The public and judges have spoken and the winners of the Manchester Food & Drink Awards 2022 were announced last night at a glitzy ceremony at Escape to Freight Island.
With over 350 people from the Manchester hospitality scene packing out the ticket hall of the venue, 17 award winners were announced across a highly contested selection of Manchester hospitality’s best and brightest. Each category was shortlisted by the Manchester Food and Drink Awards panel (made up of writers, critics and hospitality heads) with a public vote deciding the winners.
The Walled Garden’s Eddie Shepherd picked up Chef of the Year, a landmark moment for plant-based cooking in the city
Stockport won big on the night with Where The Light Gets In grabbing the Restaurant of the Year award whilst the town’s Foodie Friday won Best Project or Pop-up of the Year. Foodie Friday organisers John and Rosemary Barratt also won the Howard and Ruth Award for Outstanding Achievement, with the winners giving a rousing speech in the name of SK1.
Elsewhere The Walled Garden’s Eddie Shepherd picked up Chef of the Year, a landmark moment for plant-based cooking in the city, whilst Speak In Code won Best Bar. Another nod to sustainably-minded use of plant-based ingredients. Another Hand picked up the Best Newcomer award in a highly contested category that also included The Alan and The Black Friar whilst Pollen picked up the Best Coffeeshop award.
Read on for all of the winners from the night.
