...we’re melting in the middle just thinking about it

Ducie Street Warehouse, formerly Cultureplex, has a very welcome new resident. Insta-famous NQ sugar-dealers Gooey are moving in permanently, making in the luxe warehouse their new home on 18th July. So if your idea of heaven is a two-inch-thick, softly baked cookie or glistening donut oozing its melty innards for the ultimate Instagram money shot, your prayers have been answered.

Think chunky AF cookies in flavours like mandarin, macadamia & milk chocolate, red velvet with white chocolate chip and pistachio, matcha & dark chocolate

The NYC-inspired bakehouse has been operating a very popular delivery service during lockdown - who doesn’t want a box of their freshly baked, sugar-rush inducing wares to land on their doorstep during these depressing times? But now they will be setting up their kiosk permanently in Ducie Street Warehouse.

Gooey’s popularity has mushroomed since launching in March. Behind the brand are Jake Ansbro and Patrick Brown of EATMCR and Sax Arshad of The Zanna Group (which includes popular restaurant Mughli), with head baker, Lewis Loughman, previously of Pot Kettle Black and Takk

Ansbro said: “We’ve been blown away at the reaction to our Gooey delivery service over the past few months. We’ve got some special plans for the future and our next big step is opening up a physical space in the brilliant space over at Ducie Street Warehouse.

“We’d like to thank all of our customers for the support during lockdown. We’re looking forward to meeting many of you in person and showing you some new products we’ve got in store”.

If you're new to the goo, think chunky AF cookies in flavours like mandarin, macadamia & milk chocolate, red velvet with white chocolate chip and pistachio, matcha & dark chocolate.

There are also brioche doughnuts filled with combos like pineapple and calamansi marmalade with sage sugar, retro rhubarb and custard and recent favourite, the 'kinderella' which we imagine has a filling with 'more milk and less cocoa.'

We previously brought you the news that Gooey’s cookies would be served at the newly rebranded ‘Counter’ coffee shop on the ground floor of Ducie Street Warehouse, available to those working from the lounge, staying in the the aparthotel or using meeting and event spaces and bar area. This larger permanent operation means even more people will be able to get their mitts on their treats.

Gooey will continue delivering Thursday to Sunday to those who are still staying home, or you can pre-order for collection. See their website for more info or to arrange a delivery.
