The name is not the only change at this stylish multi-purpose venue
Formerly known as Cultureplex, with a restaurant formerly known as Bistrotheque (no it hasn’t changed its name to just a symbol...yet) - we’re now calling it Ducie Street Warehouse and it’s reopening on 4th July.
This NY-esque bright warehouse was one of the most trumpeted openings of 2019, incorporating a drop-in workspace, coffee shop, restaurant, gym, hotel and cinema as well as various events spaces.

It was perhaps this schizophrenic, all-things-to-all-people approach that made it a little less of a hit than it really should have been. We loved the food and drink, occasionally visited the really fancy gym Blok and attended lots of memorable events in its chic urban surroundings with the sounds of impossibly cool local DJs getting our feet twitching.
Hopefully the new name and ‘evolved offering’ will see it reach its massive potential, the citizens of Manchester have certainly realised how many incredible places we took for granted since the enforced lockdown.
So what’s new?
Coffee shop Klatch will reopen as Counter, incorporating a wine bar and coffee shop with a grab-and-go takeaway service - fans of recently launched Gooey will be pleased to know that their ginormous, melty cookies and brioche doughnuts will be on sale here.
The drop in workspace will now cost you, but it’s affordable and comfortable - great if you’re WFH and need a change of scenery. Weekly Passes are £50 per person, which includes a £10 credit per day to use at Counter. Daily Passes are £12 including a £10 credit for Counter. Jacqui Griffiths, General Manager at Ducie Street Warehouse says: “We have such incredible space available to us on the ground floor and have been working hard over the last few months to create a place for Manchester to ease back into work and fun. We see Counter as a real hub, offering everything from pastries and juice in the morning to mezze boxes and cocktails in the afternoon. It’s an ideal place to drop in and pick something up whether you’re staying in one of our apartments and want to eat in, meeting friends on our terrace for a catch-up and a bottle of wine or dropping by on your way home to grab a house-made meal kit for dinner.
“We had a lot of people who used the ground floor space to work from prior to lockdown and we wanted to give this usage a bit more of an identity and create an offer to suit those who want to work from town but don’t have an office to do so. There’s always been such a lovely atmosphere in the Lounge and we’re confident people will benefit from the flexibility of this offer in a home-from-home environment.”
Upstairs - all six floors of it - the aparthotel Native will reopen as was, with 166 loft-style apartments available to book. The range of options covers everything from studios to two-bedroom penthouses with garden terraces.
Jackie continues: “We’ve spent a lot of time preparing for reopening, deep cleaning the apartments and implementing social distancing, health and safety guidelines for service and food prep so that people can visit Ducie Street with confidence and make the most of the offer we have here. When we’re in a position to do so, we will also reintroduce our cultural events calendar, workshops and DJs and reopen the Cinema. There’s a lot to look forward to and we can’t wait to welcome people back!”
