When it tastes like this, yes

WE get as giddy as the next person about a traditional Christmas dinner. But the Pizza Pietro on Tre Ciccio's Natale menu has taken us to a new level of festive food excitement.

It's done in the style of the pizza you get on the streets of Naples: very soft, very light – with all the action coming from the topping rather than the dough. This means it's very easy to digest and the flavours are at their most intense.

This is not a knife-and-fork pizza. It's a fold it up at the edges and eat it with your fingers affair.

A rich, sweet sauce made from San Morzano tomatoes. Sliced pancetta imported from Italy. Roast chestnuts. Friarielli – a leafy green vegetable somewhere between kale and broccoli.

Be warned though. This is not a knife-and-fork pizza. It's a fold it up at the edges and eat it with your fingers affair.

The menu also features more traditional options for the Christmas purists in your group – including a super-juicy roast chicken with chestnuts, roast potatoes and brussels sprouts.

If you're in the Bramhall area, you're lucky to have Tre Ciccio on your doorstep. If you're not in the Bramhall area, it's worth travelling for.

The Christmas menu is three courses for £29.50 when you book a table for six or more and is available from now until 23 December.
