And it looks like the queue is going to be as much fun as the cronuts
While the hospitality industry remains in flux, our local indies continue to delight us with creative lockdown ideas. There are now plenty of delivery and cook at home options to choose from and every week brings even more collaborations and innovations to keep things interesting.
Masks are encouraged, with prizes for the most blingtastic efforts
Manchester has always been a city where people help each other out, particularly in the independent food and drink worlds. We're happy to see this is continuing with news of a new pop up that shows how teamwork makes the dream work.
If your interests lie firmly in buttery pastry and steins of German beer, then news of a weekend pop up at Albert’s Schloss might be oompah to your ears. Schloss is high on the most-missed-list for many and while that's partly down to hankering after dancing on tables with strangers to raucous live music with beer schlosshing everywhere, it's also massively about the joyous billowing carbs that pour out of the in-house bakery. So rejoice in the news that those talented bakers are firing up the ovens ready to serve up takeaway boxes bursting with pretzels, rainbow cronuts, sourdough and booze this weekend.
What’s more, all profits will be going to Eat Well MCR, who are currently providing food for NHS staff and the families of those in hospital in Greater Manchester. You could say ordering a box is a selfless dough-nation. Customers are encouraged to pre-order to collect so as to minimise numbers queuing (in a socially distant fashion) on the day. But if you do end up in the queue, there is (socially distant) entertainment promised to minimise the ordeal. Masks are encouraged, with spontaneous prizes for the most blingtastic efforts.
Choose from pre-order packages like the bier bundle, the bakery bundle and the, er, Angela Merkel here. Or rock up and wait your turn in what's likely to be a hell of a queue for individual baked goods including a limited edition NHS coro-nut.
