AFTER the success of its Malaysian restaurants and cooking school, Ning is entering the travel market. It has just announced initial details of a culinary tour of Malaysia which it will run next January in partnership with luxury travel operator Odyssey World.
The tour will be a 'field to fork' experience of Malaysia and its diverse, distinctive cuisine, from the fresh seafood of Borneo, to Asia's street food capital Penang, to the birthplace of Malaysian cuisine, the historic city of Malacca.
It will feature a visit to the home village and of Ning celebrity chef Norman Musa where you'll experience authentic rural food and take a cooking lesson with a local cook and enthusiast in Georgetown. You'll explore Malaysian markets and hawker stalls, see fantastic scenery and tea plantations in the Cameron Highlands, and, of course, enjoy lots of stunning food.
Restaurants you will visit include Aunty Aini's Garden Cafe (as featured on Gordon Ramsay's Great Escape TV series), Chef Ismail's Rebung restaurant, and Bijan restaurant in Kuala Lumpur where you'll have a final night gala dinner.
You will also will have time to relax, shop and do your own thing in Kuala Lumpur and on an idyllic island off the coast of Borneo. Accommodation will be in mainly five star hotels.
Norman Musa and Ning business partner Andy Spracklen will host elements of the tour. Norman Musa is an expert in Malaysian cuisine. He was born and brought up in Penang before moving to England in 1994 and is now recognised as one of the leading Malaysian chefs in the UK.
The Ning Culinary Tour of Malaysia is a 13-night trip with breakfasts and some other meals included. The price including return flights from Manchester or London is £2,895 per person. You save £100 on this price if you book before 30 September 2013. The tour will run from 16-29 January 2014. It is fully ATOL protected.
Malaysia is known as a foodie heaven. The tour is an excellent opportunity to experience it first-hand while enjoying a welcome break from the British winter. Expect to be enthralled, inspired, entertained, and very well fed.
As an added bonus, every guest who books onto tour will get a copy of the NEW edition of the Ning cookbook FREE as a gift! Out in October!
