IF you’ve mastered Italian, and you’ve mastered Chinese, it is now a matter of importance that you master Indian cuisine. But relax, Zouk Tea Bar & Grill is here to lend a hand with their monthly cookery school. So, grab your apron, and get ready to seriously impress at your next dinner party.

By the end of the day you will be an expert in spice

After popular demand, the classes were created to let us in on the secrets of Zouk’s culinary magic. The school now runs monthly on a Saturday and has space for about twenty budding chefs. The class is suitable for all abilities as your teachers have mastered the balance of steady instruction for the novice, and a little more freedom for the more accomplished cook. The chefs are also wonderful at answering all kinds of questions to make this Indian experience even more fulfilling.

Recipes and focus change depending on the class from which you can choose from Punjabi Masterclass, Zouk Signatures, or The Ultimate Indian Dinner Party to name but a few. However, the structure is always the same: Two classes (one for starter, one for main) with a break in the middle for a steaming cup of Indian Chai tea, followed by a sit-down meal to enjoy what you’ve made with your fellow chefs.

The award winning head chef and manager will take you on a step by step and hands on journey through authentic Indian cuisine. You will learn to cook a banquet of two starters, such as Marinated Lamb Chops or Punjabi Chicken Lollipops, and of course two classic curries Zouk is so famous for. The Punjabi Masterclass will have you making a hot Chicken Jalfrezi and a delicious Lamb Karahri. They are recipes worth recreating in your own kitchen, and trust us, you’ll be dreaming of them for weeks.

By the end of the day you will be an expert in spice. You will learn about various spices such as Cumin, Coriander, Turmeric, Red Chilli, Fenugreek and Paprika. They are all ground freshly at Zouk and it makes a difference, aroma was so strong and aromatic in both smell and flavour. You will also be lucky enough to watch some naan bread being made, and are you in for a treat, there isn’t anything quite like a garlic naan fresh from the oven.

The classes are a fun, friendly way to expand your culinary repertoire, and at £80 they make a fantastic gift for any foodie.
