Whilst the guys at StreetCars, Manchester’s largest Private Hire Taxi firm, haven’t come up with a way to part traffic Bruce Almighty Style (yet), they’ve developed a simple solution to eradicate those extra charges added to the meter due to those pesky traffic jams. Fixed Fares are now available for all regular to journeys, whether it is to and from work or office to office.
Aqeel Arshad, Operations Director, explained the benefits ‘We know it’s frustrating to pay £4 for a journey one day and £6 the next because of the time spent waiting in traffic, we want to make sure there’s a level of consistency in our pricing which is why we want to make sure everybody can take advantage of our Fixed Fares.
"We have to face facts, the road works in Manchester aren’t going anywhere anytime soon, and with the Metrolink Second City Crossing ploughing ahead there’s going to be a lot more disruption. Our main goal is to make it easy for our passengers, Fixed Fares mean they now how much they will be spending on transport for the week to the exact penny, it’s a fantastic way to budget and save yourself some money."
StreetCars ever expanding fleet also means you’ll be seeing a lot more of them in South Manchester as they look to cement their place as Manchester’s premier Private Hire Taxi firm. They’ve invested a lot of money to increase their presence in areas such as Fallowfield, Withington and Didsbury and are will also be offering Fixed Fares from all of these areas.
Aqeel went on to add ‘We’ve always had a decent amount of journeys from South Manchester, but in 2015 we’re really focussing our efforts in these areas. We’ve gained a number of contracts in the Manchester Airport area which has allowed us to open up what we’ve termed the ‘South Manchester Corridor’ so you’ll be seeing a lot more us around there!’
Their app, first released in 2010, has also seen a vast amount of development in the early part of 2015. It now incorporates account bookings, which allows corporate clients to book journeys at the tap of a finger, meaning any MD’s out there can now keep a track of their employees spending.
