PROMOTION
IT'S been a busy week here at Confidential so when Italian Express came up with the goods for our team lunch in, we were all blown away.
The pepperoni pizza was a big hit, disappearing so fast it made the speed of light look sluggish
I write this, replete and happy, surrounded by empty packaging. (Don't worry, the cardboard will all go in the recycling bin.) In fact I could have sworn I saw someone (naming no names) licking the last of the nutella from a cardboard box but the food was so good, it didn't seem like bad manners, just simple common sense.
The 14” pizzas were golden discs of loveliness, covered in bubbling golden cheese and a very generous helping of toppings. The pepperoni pizza was a big hit, disappearing so fast it made the speed of light look sluggish but I'm reliably informed it was delicious.
My favourite was the anatra pizza which was topped with shredded spring onions and tasted just like a crispy duck pancake in your favourite Chinese – on a pizza. What's not to like?
It was hard to pick a favourite, like choosing between your own children. The Italian Express special was positively loaded with chicken, bacon, green pepper and red onion and the funghi rossa pizza was far too good to leave for the vegetarians. The goat's cheese was an interesting addition to the traditional mozzarella and worked well with the roasted red pepper.
As well as the pizzas, we were spoilt rotten with massive, saucy Italian spare ribs and a whole array of pasta dishes. Spotting the huge juicy prawns, I quickly dug in to the spaghetti marinara. The penne pesto and the penne della casa looked good too. So good, that there was nothing left for me to try.
We finished on a cocoa high with sticky fingers and chocolatey mouths. Wolfing profiteroles and eating as much of the home-made nutella calzone as I could reasonably get away with, I resolved to put the Italian Express number into my phone as soon as possible.
