IT’S BEEN a mere eight months since we darted to Wilmslow to dive, knives sharpened, into the 'King Of Steaks' and other premium cuts of grass-fed beef at CAU Wilmslow (reviewed here), the chain's first Northern restaurant.

We want the feeling and weather of Buenos Aires to be felt all year round...

The Argentinian steakhouse is continuing to steak (winks) claim on the UK's 'posh suburbs' - which includes Guildford, Henley, Kingston and Wimbledon - by opening its thirteenth restaurant in Didsbury on Friday 9 October (with a fourteenth planned for MediaCityUK in December).

Based within the former Zizzi restaurant at 700 Wilmslow Road, CAU Didsbury follows the chain's successful formula and offers 'contemporary cuisine inspired by the vibrancy, colour and cultural diversity of Buenos Aires'.

Inside, the main restaurant seats 110 diners with an open plan kitchen as the focal point. While Gaucho opts for black, creams and cowhides for its interior, CAU is a bright space, consisting of blindingly white corrugated booth seating, blue sky and grass imagery, mirrored light fixtures and low hanging clouds. It's family friendly (the kids can ignore their parents with provided iPads), while the staff jog about in trendy converse trainers.

"Think La Boca, Buenos Aires, and the colourful corrugated iron houses lined-up at the mouth of the river," says Charley Springall, Head Of Marketing CAU, "We want the feeling and weather of Buenos Aires to be felt all year round."

Occupying a spacious ground floor location, CAU Didsbury promise a traditional asado grill located in their large, partially covered and heated garden which will seat 50 people for year round al-fresco dining.

True to style, grass-fed Argentinian beef features prominently on the all-day menu at CAU. Their classic steaks continue to dominate, including a Tira de Ancho, often referred to as ‘The King of Steaks’; a spiral cut of rib-eye, marinated in chimichurri and grilled slowly for maximum tenderness, and the Lomito, a fillet of rump which is considered 'the finest cut in Argentina', available all year round.

CAU will introduce six of its own brand wines to Didsbury, crafted by Phil Crozier, Gaucho and CAU’s Director of Wines, and specifically introduced to accompany some of the premium dishes on the menu.

We're becoming extremely familiar with the CAU recipe, which has seen the restaurant make our Top 10 Manchester steaks and score an impressive 16/20 when Confidential reviewed it earlier this year. Much like folk in Wilmslow, we expect Didsburians to take to this steakhouse like... well, cows to fresh, green pastures.
