Vodka-topped pizza...where have you been all our life?
IT'S party season, also known as hangover season. And anything that will take away the pain, even if just for a little while, gets our attention.
At Buca di Pizza on Lloyd Street they've invented the ultimate hangover cure for when you're feeling particularly depraved and desperate: the Bloody Mary Pizza.
It's a boozy take on a classic tomato and basil sauce, with the Bloody Mary classics added to the mix: tabasco, Worcestershire sauce and a good measure of vodka. It's shaken up then poured onto their hand-stretched Napolese-style pizza base and baked. A celery stick on the side is optional. (Go on, the vitamins might make you feel less broken inside).
They'll give you half a pint on the house while you wait for it to cook.
And if the thought of sitting in a restaurant with other human beings is too much for you after a big night out, you can order the Buca Bloody Mary to takeaway. What's more, they'll give you half a pint on the house while you wait for it to cook.
Stick to a half, mind, or you might find yourself back there again tomorrow.
