THIS is Johnny the Barber from Limerick.

Or the Baba as he prefers.

And don't call him a hairdresser. Hairdresser is soft, effete, metrosexual.

He’s the fastest talking, coolest barber in the West.

He keeps telling us that anyway.

We'll soon be able to judge for ourselves.

He’s opening up in Manchester in October in the city centre and he's promising to flaunt a few key points of difference from the regular gents barber.

For instance, he and his staff will look as sharp as the cut-throat razors they'll be wielding. Proper shirt and tie, waistcoats: well-groomed rather than looking like something a barber's tools haven't touched in several months. Meanwhile the shop will feature sturdy fixtures and fittings in real wood and gleaming with chrome.

And don't call him a hairdresser. Hairdresser is soft, effete, metrosexual.

Baba's a man's barber, part of a tradition that spreads back to ancient Rome when the stories barber's told knocked Emperors from their thrones.

There'll be nothing unisex about the new place.

Or will there? Is the Baba-thing just Irish gift of the gab?

Just blarney.

We'll wait and see but here's a sample video to give a taste of the man's 'attitude'.
