Wednesday is a winner with Lily’s weekly afternoon tea
AFTERNOON tea is something of a special occasion round ours, but that might be about to change as we welcome a newcomer Wednesdays to Fridays. Lily’s in Ashton has just launched Afternoon Tea with an Indian Twist, serving their meat-free take on the sit down spread every week from 1.30pm until 5pm.
Lily’s Afternoon Tea with an Indian Twist has three layers for two people to get through in one sitting, with both savoury and sweet dishes to share. Start off by tucking into favourites specially selected from Lily’s Farsan snacks section of the menu, including the likes of pastries, samosas, kachori and bhaijs, served with dips such as tamrind & date chutney and mint yoghurt.
In the middle – sandwiched if you like – is a selection of paneer tikka rolls and chutney sandwiches. Some dishes will be swapped in and out every few weeks to keep the experience from going stale, and a full vegan Afternoon Tea is available alongside the standard vegetarian.
The third tier is laden with sweets, dumplings, biscuits and indian cakes and is the perfect way to finish off the feast. It’s all accompanied with a pot of fresh tea each, of course – India is the second largest producer of tea in the world after China, with blends including the famous Assam and Darjeeling leaves.
At the moment, Lily’s Afternoon Tea with an Indian Twist is £25 for two people, or £32 for two for Prosecco Afternoon Tea with an Indian Twist if you fancy a bit of fizz – these special introductory offers run until Friday 2 November.
