ICONIC Manchester band The Stone Roses have announced three BIG shows for 2016, two of which will take place at Manchester's Etihad Stadium on Friday 17 and Saturday 18 June.
Tickets for the Manchester dates go on sale at 9.30am on Friday 6 November
And it's what the world is waiting for, well, the Twittersphere at least.
Rumours were rife across Twitter on Monday 2 November as posters featuring The Stone Roses' famous lemon emblem began to appear in shop windows around the Northern Quarter from Vinyl Revival on Hilton Street to Close barbers on Great Ancoats Street.
Some fans speculated that the band were ready to announce the release date of their long awaited third album, while others discussed a potential headline slot at this year's Glastonbury Festival.
Finally, an official announcement went out on the band's twitter profile at around 7pm - the first post in nineteen months - revealing the Manchester dates alongside a headline slot at Scotland's T in the Park festival on Friday 8 July.
It will be the first time the band have performed together since their global 2012/13 Reunion Tour, which included three sell-out performances at Manchester's Heaton Park on 29-30 June and 1 July.
All 220,000 tickets for the Manchester shows sold out in 68 minutes, making it the 'fastest selling rock gig in UK history'.
The band originally seperated in 1996, reforming in 2011 to announce the comeback tour along with reports in the music press of a new record deal with Universal Records. However, as yet no new material has surfaced.
Tickets for the two Manchester 2016 dates go on sale on Friday 6 November at 9.30am via ticketmaster.com and gigsandtours.com... though, if previous form is anything to go by, bagging a ticket for the next Stone Roses gig could be the hardest thing in the world.
