Meat is served on volcanic stones at The Stone Grill, due to open on Liverpool Road in June
Never quite happy with how your steak is served? Or just like a bit of novelty? You’re in luck, as a ‘cook your own’ steakhouse is coming to Manchester this summer - serving up steaks and seafood on volcanic stones.
Steak customers receive their bounty raw, seasoned and served on sizzling volcanic stones
First opened in a Blackpool hotel back in 2014, The Stone Grill quickly outgrew its premises and launched a standalone restaurant on Queens Promenade in 2017. Now it’s expanding out of the seaside resort, with an opening on Manchester’s Liverpool Road this June.
Here's a video (very Blackpool):
The Manchester restaurant will offer a similar menu to Blackpool; with everything from standard beef cuts to veal, venison and the more exotic likes of kangaroo fillet and zebra haunch. Seafood is another staple, from surf and turf to tuna, while vegetarians can opt for halloumi and Mediterranean veg. Drinks-wise, expect draught beers and a sizeable wine list.
Steak customers receive their bounty raw, seasoned and served on sizzling volcanic stones, before being advised to cut thin slices and cook to their liking. All come with standard condiments and sides, including ‘rustic chunky chips’ and a choice of extra sauces.
Those feeling extra hungry can also choose from typical starters such as prawn cocktail and soup - as well as sweets like sticky toffee pudding and a range of liqueurs - while diners who prefer to leave the cooking at home can opt for mains like half chicken and risotto.
Undeniably, though, steak is the star of the show and is promised to be ‘always perfect’ thanks to The Stone Grill’s unusual model. An ambitious promise but can they deliver? We’ll have to see this summer...
The Stone Grill is planned to open this June at 13-25 Liverpool Road (off Deansgate), M3 4NW
