BACK in October, Confidential exclusively revealed plans for a new New York-inspired steakhouse by Northern Quarter-based dirty food merchants Solita.

Solita Steakhouse continues Barton Arcade's canny food and drink revival

Now, after much deliberation and soul searching by the owners, two fact-finding trips to the Big Apple, and on the advice of a crack team of brand strategists (who’ve been slaving away on the project non-stop for three months), Confidential can reveal the name of Solita’s new steakhouse…

Solita Steakhouse.

How about that eh? Oh, and the planned launch date is Friday 1st July (expect soft opening details via @SolitaSteak).

Set over three floors (in the former Edward’s shoe store) within Deansgate’s beautified Grade II listed Barton Arcade, Solita Steakhouse will boast a small cocktail and casual dining space on the ground floor, a ‘stunning’ New York-style steakhouse in the basement and a further bar and private dining space in the venue’s sub-basement – which has lain dormant for over half a century (main image)

The 200-cover venue will also feature a ‘two storey glass fronted meat ageing room’ and tables spilling out into the Victorian shopping arcade - built in 1871.

Solita co-owner Franco Sotgiu has been fleshing out the bones with Confidential:

“Solita Steakhouse will be a grown up version of our other Solita sites. Much like us, the Barton Arcade has grown up with its recent new openings and this summer we believe it’s set to become one of the city’s hot spots. It’s a beautiful building and we’re planning to bring it back to life with three lovingly restored floors offering an unbeatable drinking and dining experience.

“Having visited a few (New York) steakhouses in the name of research, what really stands out for me is the glamour and quality of the experience for diners. It’s not just about having a great steak, its about having a top night out whatever the occasion. We will build our own unique Solita brand into this age old heritage. The drinks, the decor, the staff, everything, will contribute to making the Solita Steakhouse experience special.”

Following the arrival of PKB, Lunya and Be At One, Solita Steakhouse continues Barton Arcade's canny food and drink revival, and follows a strong period of growth for Solita, which opened a second site in Didsbury in 2014, followed by a third in Prestwich in August 2015.
