The owners say it's 'time for the journey to come to an end'

That's the thing about 'hidden' bars, they're great for populating 'Best Secret Bar' lists, but a pain when you actually want to find one.

So it is that Salford's most hidden cocktail bar, Peggy's (previously Corridor), tucked down a nothing alleyway between the scratty old Rover's Return and a market research company on Barlow's Croft, has called it a day..

We didn't come to this decision lightly, but it is the right one

Its co-owners, cocktail connoisseurs Adam Day and Shane Kilgariff, who arrived via stints at Mr Cooper's and El Gato Negro, reopened the bar in July 2017, stripping the drinking den right back, giving the gaff a splash of green paint (to reflect their focus on natural ingredients) and exposing it to sunlight for the first time in years.

Alas, despite some of the most inventive cocktails in the city (quince tea vermouth and charred leek liqueur, anyone?), the bar - which was nominated for 'Best New Bar' at the national Class Bar Awards last year - has served its last...well, until the next reinvention.

Owner Adam Day said: "A little over a year ago, Shane and I were frantically putting some stools together five minutes before opening the doors to Peggy's Bar.

"Since then I have had the best time. I have accomplished so many personal and professional goals, all while being lucky enough to showcase what I love to so many of our friends and guests.

"It is now time, however, for the Peggy's journey to come to an end. We didn't come to this decision lightly, but it is the right one. I can't say thank you enough to those you have shown us love and support throughout, it has been completely humbling and it wouldn't be the same without any of you."

Peggy's will pour its last before the close of July. Good luck fellas.
