50s-inspired American restaurant is no more
Northern Quarter's Infamous Diner has been put into liquidation.
The retro American-themed venue was opened in Basil Chambers on Nicholas Croft in July 2015 by Mark Andrew Developments Ltd (MAD) - the bar and restaurant group behind multiple operations in the area including Walrus, Tusk, Rosylee and Hula.
MAD put the site up for sale in January 2017, enlisting Christie & Co. to find a buyer, with the 25-year leasehold on offer for £500,000. By February that amount had been reduced to £400,000, by January 2018 it had been chopped to just £200,000.
According to official public record The Gazette, Whitefield-based liquidators Leonard Curtis were appointed on Friday 17 August.
Both the website and Facebook page for Infamous Diner have been removed.
Visiting in August 2015, Confidential reviewer Ruth Allan wrote that Infamous 'oozes camp and fun... it’s just a shame that the food doesn’t come close to the venue's promise' - it scored just 10 out of 20 (read here).
Though the prominent site hasn't remained empty for long. Just days after Infamous was put into liquidation, and the American burger bar has been replaced by Fallowfield-based Randy's - another burger bar.
