Fewer queues and more craic at Manchester’s favourite Irish pub
Owner Pádraig Brady has done what everyone wanted him to do for years. Yes, the news is true. Manchester's favourite slice of the emerald isle has got a whopping extension. I've been sworn to secrecy for months, but much like a child who finds their birthday present early, I've just been dying for this day to come.
Mulligans holds the crown of the best pint of Guinness outside of Ireland, its reputation precedes it and after two it exceeds it. There's something about the sights and sound that make it this way and surely to announce an expansion is the pub equivalent of a second album. Difficult yes, but the greats nail it.
Walking up the stairs, you're expecting a humble pokey den of trinkets and good times but you can't prepare yourself for how big this expansion is compared to the original space downstairs. I haven't seen an expansion on this scale since they made the 372 page Hobbit book into 3 films.
Beautiful beams line the ceiling of a space that in my opinion dwarfs (another nod to the hobbit) expectations. Two balconies and ample floor space make this the perfect private hire for Christmas. They will also be doing table service, which as Mulligans regular sounds like a blessing.
Simply put; fewer queues, more craic
This is in addition to the original space, both can co-exist and complement each other. The live music on the balcony fills the space with charm and authenticity, Guinness is still poured with the same attention to detail, sitting atop of those infamous pumps.
Also, to celebrate the launch of the new space the first 250 guests through the door on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will receive exclusive Mulligans merchandise and a complimentary pint o' the good stuff.
If you watch the reel below, you'll probably get a better sense of the space.
And if you're still reading this, here's a little limerick for you;
At Mulligans in Manchester town,
Where the Guinness flows dark and brown,
They've extended the space
For pints and embrace,
Now it's the best spot around
