TWO regional restaurants have been among the winners with the AA recently.

"Manchester is continuing to go from strength to strength in terms of its food offering, and we’re very proud to be leading this movement."

Mr Cooper's House and Garden from Simon Rogan at The Midland Hotel and Brown's Restaurant at Mere Golf Resort & Spa near Knutsford have both been granted two rosettes.

The Midland Hotel now holds more AA Rosettes than any other establishment in the city - five. The French at The Midland, also run by acclaimed chef Simon Rogan, has three AA Rosettes.

The 150-seat Mr Cooper's has a 50-cover bar and is less formal than The French. It marked a departure for Rogan with the introduction of a more international style.

Mike Magrane, General Manager at The Midland said: “We’re delighted Mr Cooper’s House and Garden has been awarded two AA Rosettes. This is a fantastic accolade and testament to the team’s hard work over the last few months. Manchester is continuing to go from strength to strength in terms of its food offering, and we’re very proud to be leading this movement.”

Simon Rogan said: “It’s been an incredible journey, and we’re delighted to have put Manchester firmly back on the foodie map. I’m extremely proud of my team for what they have established in such a short space of time.”

“From the outset of our resort redevelopment in 2012, we aspired to be recognised by guests and partners alike at the top end of the 4-star market," said Gary Corbett, chairman of the resort. "To receive this acknowledgement by the AA is an incredibly proud moment for me and the entire team here at The Mere."
