From infinity pools to sleep cocoons, we reveal the city’s best pampering spots
AS a mother’s work is never done, it's only right that once a year she gets her due appreciation, usually accompanied by a generous pouring of Prosecco... never forget the Prosecco.
Spas are a great place to start the R&R process; full of softly spoken folk with nimble fingers and sharp elbows, mums can savour a needed release and some well-deserved peace 'n' quiet.
Manchester has many a spa to pamper mums into serenity (though get booking fast as you won’t be the only one with this idea). Across the city find sleep cocoons, infinity pools and zen gardens, as well some of the leading anti-ageing skin treatments (not that she needs it).
Here’s our favourite spas and beauty clinics in and around Manchester:

RIBBY HALL
Recommended treatment: Rasul mud chamber £30 for two people
110 acres of Lancashire countryside surround this gorgeous hotel and spa retreat. Ribby Hall Village’s spa hotel, a short trip away in Preston (close enough), is the picturesque getaway for a mum who needs to escape from it all (and the adults-only rule helps in that respect, read the review here). Fancy lounging in the zen garden, experiencing the aqua thermal journey, float in the hydrotherapy pool and doing nothing while a masseuse massages you into pure unadulterated blissfulness? Course you do. Ribby Hall Village is as much as health and wellness centre as a spa retreat, with opportunities to go running down the nature trail or enjoying a spot of pilates in the zen garden. There’s a mix of spa-days and breaks to try, though we’d recommended staying over and having dinner in The Orangery.
