Scoops, scran and spins for festival’s Mayfield Depot debut
Festivals, festivals everywhere. As if making up for lost time the summer festival calendar is filling up quickly with Manchester Craft Beer Festival the latest to announce its full line-up featuring a host of international breweries, foodie pop-ups and big-name DJs to wash it all down with.
Kicking off on Friday 23 July for two days at Mayfield Depot, Manchester Craft Festival will bring over forty local, national and international breweries to the city for two days of cultured boozing.
Whether you’re an avid IPA drinker or just dragged along to chaperone, there’ll be something to suit all tastes
International breweries on the line-up include Danish running and beer enthusiasts Mikkeller, Norwegian dessert in a can purveyors Amundsen and a New York showcase including Grimm, Barrier, KCBC and Equilibrium breweries. Local favourites Marble Brewery, Track Brewing and Manchestery Union brewery also feature on the line-up.
There will be plenty to soak it all up with too. Manchester Craft Beer Festival has teamed up with KANTINA - of Escape to Freight Island's recent massive food and drink weekender fame - to bring a choice selection of foodie pop-ups to balance out the hops.
Vendors will include Belzan Pasta Kitchen bringing its Italian pasta classics made with seasonal British produce. Madre x AngloThai will be serving Mexican Thai fusion and Higher Ground x Things Palace will be turning the best hyper-local produce (think Fallowfield) into sublime dishes thanks to a collaborative team including multiple Where The Light Gets In alumni.
If you’re looking to keep it vegan look no further than Dan Hope's Plant Grill x Green Lights for your veggie goodness fix and Patty Queen will also be at hand for those all-important burgers.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a festival without a few tunes. Queen Bee, Craig Charles, Daddy G from Massive Attack and Django Django will all be performing DJ sets throughout the two-dayer. Hopefully keeping it relaxed enough so that nobody spills a single drop.
Elsewhere on the bill, there’s a chance for craft fans to try multiple Raise The Bar award-winning breweries including Attic Brew Co., Beak Brewery, Newtown Park and Pastore Brewing. Raise the bar, which runs four festivals across the UK including the Manchester edition, has worked with emerging breweries across the country - including Beavertown and Verdant - to bring some of the best up and coming brewers to the masses over recent years.
Whether you’re an avid sour or IPA drinker or just someone who’s been dragged along to chaperone, there’ll be something to suit all tastes. Set to be a celebration of beer in all its forms, high and low ABV included, the festival will also see a selection of craft cider, wine, gin and craft soda ensuring nobody is left out.
Tickets are now on sale for £49.50 with each allowing for a five-hour slot at the festival on either Friday or Saturday with all of your beer included, access to the festival food vendors as well as a free special-edition festival glass so that you can remember where you were if your memory is fuzzy the next day.
