ALLIED LONDON have just announced the first in a series of events to be held within London Road Fire Station – the crumbling Victorian landmark abandoned by Britannia Hotels and rescued by the developer in November – before redevelopment works begin later this year.
Events at London Road have been curated to create an experience like no other
A series of free to attend pop-up events, titled ‘Made Here’, will showcase work from some of Manchester’s best designers, makers and creators across four dates: Saturday 13 August, Saturday 10 September, Saturday 8 October and Saturday 12 November.
(Update: October and November dates have been postponed until further notice)
The Engine Room (main image) will offer visitors the chance to buy hand-made furniture, prints, ceramics and clothing from designer/makers such as Joe & Co, Lazerian and Mcr Mosaics, whilst out in the courtyard there’ll be live music, workshops and local food and drink produce.
London Road Fire Station project manager, Lucy Noone, said: “Events at London Road have been curated to create an experience like no other that will invite the public in and reinvigorate this space.
“We are re-building the community here with a programme of events and opportunities for distinctive and entrepreneurial businesses that will provide service, quality, design and an experience at Manchester’s new gateway.”

Fellow event organiser, Jamie Scahill, said: “Made Here is going to be the first ever event to happen at this iconic building so we’re really honoured to be working with Allied London to make it happen.
“Manchester has an amazing history of creativity and design and we think it’s important to recognise and promote this”
