MANCHESTER erupted last night as the Trinity of Manchester slebs, Corrie, Hollyoaks, and a footballer, joined a gaggle of housewives, Bobby Davro, and a handful of the proletariat, in welcoming new restaurant, Quill, to King Street.

I am grateful to all of our VIP guests who came to show their support

The £47m restaurant - an object lesson in monochromania - served up a cracking finger buffet during the bash alongside hundreds of cocktails and glasses of champagne for nowt.

According to the blurb, Head Chef Curtis Stewart brings a wealth of experience to the new 80-cover restaurant, being the only chef ever to have worked in all of the UK's 150 Michelin starred restaurants.

The restaurant will offer Mod Brit grub, with European influences - an eight course tasting menu from £80 and an a la carte menu starting at just £45 for two courses.

Chris Longmate, CEO of the restaurant's parent company, On The Wall, said: “Wow what a night. It was exhilarating to see all of our hard work come together last night as we showcased Quill to friends and colleagues in Manchester for the first time.

"I am grateful to all of our VIP guests who came to show their support and raise a glass or two to our newest venture..."

...the rest of you can sod off.

Quill opens officially on King Street on Friday 30 October.
