SUMMER 2016 will be all about the sights and sounds of Brasil. And while few of us can hop on a plane to Rio to experience the action firsthand, we can get a taste of Brasilian culture much closer to home. At Cabana, they've launched a lunch menu that brings the distinctive flavours of Brasil to you.

It's an eye-opening taste tour of the country's favourite street food, home-cooking, and barbecues.

It's an eye-opening taste tour of the country's favourite street food, home-cooking, and barbecues. Think smoky skewers perched on top of big bowls of quinoa and avocado salad. Or sweet coconut curry from the sunshine-soaked Bahia state. Or grab-able 'Sambawiches' – hot flatbreads filled with spicy, sweet chicken.

It's good value at just £9.95 for two courses (starter and main or main and dessert). And Cabana's upcycled beach-cafe style makes this the perfect place to unwind on a busy workday.

We escaped there earlier this month to try the new menu – and found some really interesting flavours in there. Get ready for a food craving:

Starters

Cheesy Doughballs

This street food classic, also known as Pao de Queijo, is popular for a good reason. Lightly baked cheesy dough with a satisfyingly chewy centre, it's a Brasilian (and Confidential) favourite.

Malagueta Hummus and Cucumber

Hummus and cucumber: not something you see on the menu and think, I MUST try that. But add a dash of Malagueta and this goes from dull fridge fare to full-on flavour. The smoky, spicy, sweet sauce mixes with the garlicy hummus perfectly. You MUST try this.

Mains

Bahian Coconut Curry

A departure from the barbecue flavours that define much of the main menu, this beautiful coconut curry takes its inspiration from the African-influenced cooking of Bahia in North East Brasil. The sweet potato and courgette make for a soft, satisfying base. Just add your choice of flame-grilled mini skewer: Malagueta chicken, steak or halloumi.

Hipanema Bowl with steak mini-skewers

Cabana's barbecue flavours are at their best in this salad bowl which combines the sweetness of mango with the smokiness of skewered steak. Featuring chunks of avocado and squash amongst the quinoa, this will fill you up without making you feel overstuffed.

Frango Sambawich

A hot flatbread chicken sandwich with spicy Malagueta chicken, rocket and tomato. Easy to eat, relatively healthy, and with a little kick of spice, it could become your new lunchtime favourite. Other fillings include The Frevo (steak, ham and melted cheese) and The Porto (Portobello mushroom).

Dessert

Fro-Yo

Fat-free frozen yoghurt is a guilt-free treat to end the meal. Choose from caramel or peanut butter and add two toppings. Your options include Brasilian peanut candy, shredded coconut, crushed Oreos, chocolate sauce, and lots more.

The Set Lunch menu is £9.95 for two courses and is available at Cabana from Monday to Friday until 5pm.
