GRANTED, we've hit critical burger.

To avoid geographical bias, the flippers will be hidden and backlit behind partition screens with burgers presented to you - the judges - on the tables with numbers.

Much like rats in London and flatcaps in Yorkshire, currently in Manchester you're never more than 6ft from a 'signature burger'.

Still, recent research shows that burgers are still the nation’s no.1 ordered main course dish. Let's face it, people love burgers, they're a bankable feed, and for the time being they're going nowhere.

So let's have some fun with them, eh?

Well, that's exactly what Manchester's original street food party organisers, Guerrilla Eats, are planning to do on the night of Friday 14 November.

Having recently launched a hugely successful weekly stint at the Fairbairn Building in Ancoats, the street food collective are planning to make the most of their new home by hosting a one-off competitive burger face-off.

The Guerrilla Eats 'Secret Burger Battle' will see representatives from Manchester, Salford, Leeds, Sheffield and Oldham/Trafford will battle it out for the night's 'Best Burger Trophy'.

So far, so standard. Well not so, as the competitors will be cooking anonymously.

To avoid geographical bias, the flippers will be hidden and backlit behind partition screens with burgers presented to you - the judges - on the tables with numbers.

Here's the challengers...

In the Red corner, representing Sheffield we have: Cow Boys

In the Blue corner, representing Leeds, we have: Patty Smiths

In the Green corner representing Salford, we have: Barnhouse Bistro

In the Yellow corner, representing Manchester we have: Dirty Dogs (erm hold on... don't you make hotdogs?)

In the Orange corner, representing Oldham and Trafford we have: Bangers & Bacon

Once you’ve tasted all the options, you cast your vote on the 'burgometer' and the winner takes home the (soon to be) coveted specially commissioned burger trophy until next year.

Tickets at £22.50 (available here) and for that get you a slider from each of the contestants plus unlimited fries for the table.
