AT LAST some quality for MediaCityUK.
Since it first started operation the shining city of broadcasting in the west central area has lacked a destination restaurant.
Indeed, given the erratic opening hours of The Lowry art centre's restaurant across the water on Salford Quays, the whole area has been crying out for some really decent nosh. The only choices previously have come in the form of chain blandness.
The new location is situated overlooking the MediaCityUK garden and piazza. It lies above Prezzo restaurant and will no doubt dominate it in terms of food offering too
Now Damson is to join the food party and give it a boost. And its also giving youth a boost too.
The original Damson is a multiple award-winning restaurant in Heaton Moor. It specialises in modern British cuisine. The Beeb folk will love it.
It opens in January 2013.

Damson was established in 2009 by Steve Pilling and Simon Stanley. Together the pair have received more awards from the Manchester Food and Drink Festival than anyone else in its history.
The new location is situated overlooking the MediaCityUK garden and piazza. It lies above Prezzo restaurant and will no doubt dominate it in terms of food offering too. It will cater for everything from breakfast meetings to private dining.
The menu will include signature dishes such as Whitby crab and parsley risotto with salt and vinegar cockles; grilled scallops with slow cooked middle white pork belly and Bury black pudding croquettes, and for desserts, spiced apple puree, golden raisins and caramelised pain perdu with roasted pear, honey and yoghurt ice cream, Earl Grey tea jelly and honeycomb.
Damson’s well-known wine list will also be available at MediaCityUK.
As a bonus the new site has been developed in association with Salford City College alongside their multi-million pound new skills centre ‘FutureSkills at MediaCityUK’. Phase one opens in early 2013 with phase two opening in the summer.
The partnership will allow the Damson team to deliver bespoke training to Salford City College’s hospitality learners via apprentice schemes.
Steve Pilling said “This is one of the most exciting projects I’ve been involved in yet. The opportunity to be at the forefront of a new dining community in the region’s most exciting location and to invest in the region’s hospitality industry at the same time is a fantastic thing.”
It's all good news down in luvvie land.
