Those Latin Americans certainly know how to party. All you need is a few friends, a couple of Cabana’s street food dishes and you’ve got a taste carnival going on.
Choose two or three street food dishes to share between two or if you’re dining solo today or just can’t bear to share one should be plenty for a light snack.
Here are Confidential’s favourites:
Salt Cod Fritters
Salt cod or bacalhao as it’s known in Brasil is something you may not have tried but it even gives the great British fish and chips a run for its money. Salt cod fritters are a big deal in Sao Paulo where no self-respecting street food feast but be without them. A soft and creamy mix of cod and potato encased in a light batter, they go perfectly with the zingy lime mayo and they’re even gluten friendly.
Spicy Malagueta Grilled Prawns
Imagine juicy prawns, plump and fat, sizzling on a barbecue on Copacabana beach. Sound idyllic, doesn’t it? Well head to Cabana and their Malagueta grilled prawns are as close as you’re going to get without jumping on a plane. The spicy Malagueta sauce adds an extra kick.
Spicy Malagueta Chicken Croquetas
Croquetas are the ultimate on-the-go street food snack. Cute little balls of shredded chicken in more of that lovely Malagueta sauce – made from the Brasilian piri-piri chilli – all wrapped up in a crispy coating. Dip into the Malagueta mayo and you’ve got a match made in heaven.
Parmesan and Honey
The perfect bar snack. Order a glass of prosecco and enjoy nibbling on the combination of sweet honey and rich, fruity parmesan. It also works wonders as an appetiser – a portion of this and soon you’ll want more.
Cheesy Dough Balls
These babies are a street food classic and rightly so. Tangy, moreish and crisp, no wonder Brasilians are happy to munch on pao de queijo all day long. A definite Confidential winner.
Spicy Malagueta Chicken Wings
Whatever you might think, you can’t have too much Malagueta. Besides, how could we leave out these spicy chicken wings? They’re one of Cabana’s signature dishes after all. Succulent chicken and spice – one taste and you’ll be hooked.
Street food is everywhere right now, but if you want to try street food with the Confidential seal of approval, make sure you visit Cabana.
