£20 cocktail masterclasses for any occasion
NOW that Dry January is but a hazy memory, why not get serious on the cocktail front? At Tiger Tiger not only can you sample their classic, retro and even candy cocktails and mocktails, you can also join a masterclass and learn how to fix them for yourself. Perfect for birthday bashes, hen dos or stag parties, a Tiger Tiger cocktail masterclass is also great for corporate events, from team-building days to post-work wind-down with your colleagues (although maybe not on a school night).
Duty calls...
Our host Sean was a fantastic teacher, keeping the mood light and fun, from the off challenging us to channel our inner Tom Cruise: follow the instructions and make the drink right, and you get to knock back a refreshing melon shot (green for go). Get it wrong, and a red-coloured, red-hot Tabasco tipple has your name on it. No pressure.
First up The Heisenberg, the Breaking Bad equivalent of a Margarita. A concoction of tequila, lime juice and Curaçao liqueur complete with ‘crystal’ salt flakes, the bright blue drink was sour and punchy, and looked as if it had enough e-numbers alone to give us the jitters. Sean, of course, made the mixing look like child’s play, but the threat of Tabasco shots was too high a price for us not to try as hard as we could. Luckily he was laid-back about what we were to make, and left it up to us.
An easy but impressive Amaretto Sour combined Disaronno, lime juice, sugar syrup and copious amounts of crushed ice. Simple enough to make at home, it bolstered our spirits, but a failed attempt at a Flaming Rum Punch meant a spicy red shot, so the heat was on. Next, Sean challenged us to a race to rustle up the best Metropolitan, a modern twist on a Cosmopolitan, combining Chambord, vodka and cranberry juice. Despite us being more rowdy and less precise, we managed to produce two delicious drinks; both contestants also taking a lot of pride in the appearance of our creations despite going for rather varied approaches.
Our masterclass successful, we were treated to Summer Rose Coolers – a fragrant gin, soda and rosé wine aperitif – before being served delicious sharing platters of spicy nachos, chicken goujons, calamari, Bloody Mary meatballs and garlic bread, a tasty antidote to all the alcohol. A veggie platter is also available or your group can trade the sharer boards for a two-course dinner for just £10 per person extra. It’s important to have that stomach lined, after all...
For work or for play, the Tiger Tiger cocktail masterclass is a fantastic sharing experience, a perfect warm-up for a big night out, and most importantly a great laugh.
