PROMOTION
THE Blue Brick Club certainly knows how to create an atmosphere. The lights were dim, the music was just right and with a perfectly-made cocktail waiting for me, I was full of anticipation.
The thought of lifting mother's ruin out of the gutter with a bit of prosecco really appealed
After tasting such a delicious cocktail, I was also a little nervous about how I'd measure up. I needn't have worried; Richard Freedman, whose job it was to guide me through the intricacies of cocktail making, was a great host. He was friendly and full of knowledge and enthusiasm about the drinks we made.
Not only did I manage to make a rather impressive mojito, even if I do say so myself, but I also found out about the history of the drink and how it became so popular today.
The cocktail masterclass is customised to suit you. You make (and drink) three cocktails but it's up to you whether you choose a cocktail from the menu, a favourite classic or upgrade to use premium spirits.
As well as a mojito, I learnt how to make a margarita which is my personal fave and a mint tea ruination. I'd not tried this one before but the thought of lifting mother's ruin out of the gutter with a bit of prosecco really appealed.
Sipping my final cocktail, I remembered all the horror-show hen dos I've been subjected to over the years and thought what a great hen do activity this would make – civilised, but not too civilised, it was a right laugh and perfect for large groups.
I don't think the Blue Brick Club are going to be asking for my CV anytime soon, but I've definitely picked up some tips I'm going to be putting into practice at home.
A cocktail masterclass costs from £25 per person.
