VELVET Central has closed on Mount Street.
The company reportedly owes over £200k to HMRC, amongst other parties. Owners of the bar restaurant - which launched less than two years ago - placed the company into voluntary liquidation in December 2014.
The original Velvet; a boutique hotel, bar, restaurant and Village institution first opened on Canal Street as a leased basement bar in 1996, remains unaffected.
In January 2015 Velvet's co-owner Mark Cain - a hugely popular local businessman instrumental in the rise of the city's Gay Village during the 90s-00s - was found dead.
Duff & Phelps have been appointed as liquidator.
Confidential contacted Velvet Central for comment but is yet to receive a reply.
