Olivia trained at Le Cordon Bleu, wrote a cookbook about butter, and now she's joining team Confidentials

Confidentials.com are pleased to announce Olivia Potts is joining our food and drink writing team in the twentieth year of our journey. This underlines our ethos; we believe content is king.
Olivia is a criminal barrister turned writer and cook. She was the twenty-second female president of the Cambridge Union in 2008 and was called to the bar in 2011. She won the Arden Scholarship and practised as a criminal barrister for five years.

When her mother died unexpectedly, Olivia left the bar and took up cooking to help deal with her grief. She enrolled on the Diplôme de Patisserie at Le Cordon Bleu and wrote a best-selling book which mingles food prep with the grief of a daughter. This is called A Half Baked Idea and was described by The Guardian as ‘a heart-warming book about death and new beginnings that will delight cake lovers; it manages to be moving, funny and mouth-watering in equal measure – a difficult literary confection to master.’
Her second book was Butter: A Celebration. This has had the editorial team at Confidentials.com drooling. We agree with Nigella Lawson who has written: “This is, quite frankly, my dream book. Buttery bliss from cover to cover.”
Olivia won the Fortnum and Mason Debut Food Book of the Year in 2020, as well as Guild of Food Writers Food Writer of the year. She also writes Spectator Life's Vintage Chef column for The Spectator magazine. She’s local too, having relocated to the North West. She lives in the west of Greater Manchester with her husband and child.
