IT'S National Vegetarian Week from 19-25 May, and folks all over the UK will be taking up the challenge of going meat-free for a full seven days.

Why not head to Lily's one evening to see how good vegetarian food can be?

At Lily's, the much-praised Indian eaterie in Ashton-under-Lyne, they are ready to help you stick to the herbivore regime. It's vegetarian week every week there (their menu is completely meatless). And they're putting on a special starter to mark the Vegetarian Week celebrations, called Mangolian Maaza.

These spicy cutlets are made from mixed vegetables with a fiery hot sauce and are in their words, 'very tasty'. Having read the love that gets thrown their way from reviewers and regular customers, we believe what they say.

The four Indian chefs at Lily's are experts at creating vegetarian dishes that win over even confirmed carnivores. Their menu features Indian food as you find it in India, and includes delicious snacks such as pea and lentil kachoris, curries such as their heavenly tawa panner, and tempting sweets such as their gajar halwa – a carrot cake-like creation you'll love.

If you're taking part in the Vegetarian Week challenge, why not head to Lily's one evening to see how good vegetarian food can be? It's just opposite the tram station in Ashton-under-Lyne.
