CHOOSING a platter from a menu is always a gamble. With variety and ratio being two of the main factors of food sharing, you never know if you’ve signed up for a feast or a famine.

At £16 per person including a glass of wine each with the Manchester Confidential offer, this is arguably the best-value-for-money meat in the city.

Bohemia clearly don’t want any preconceived doubt when it comes to their platters and have confidently named their latest sharing option a 'Steak Feast Platter'. Talk about putting your cards on the table.

Luckily they’ve laid down straight aces. The Steak Feast Platter includes four big slabs of steak so there’s no indecisiveness over which part of the cow you wish to devour.

A 10oz rump, 10oz rib eye, 10 oz sirloin and 7oz fillet steak are all for your beefy pleasure. The fillet is buoyant and tender, the sirloin and rib eye full of juicy fat, and then the steak-eaters steak is, of course, the rump – lean with a lingering meaty taste.

Shared between two, your eyeballs will fall out of your head and bounce back up off your drooling tongue when the platter arrives.

We went for medium-rare and it came perfectly pink and sizzling hot with tomatoes and mushrooms on a rustic wooden slab befitting of Bohemia’s homely interior set-up.

Despite sitting inside on this occasion, their newly expanded alfresco area complete with decking and heat lamps was equally inviting. Castlefield leads the way in the summer months when it comes to terrace culture and Bohemia is at the heart of it all with its pretty plaza. Sharing a feast together after a few drinks finishes off the evening perfectly.

Platters also come with a wide choice of sides: homemade chunky chips, fries, sweet potato chips, sautéed new potatoes, Cajun coated onion rings, creamy mash potato, sautéed seasonal veg, wild garlic mushrooms, salad, jasmine and coriander rice, coconut and chilli rice, jalapeno coleslaw and classic coleslaw. It was pleasing to see the variety didn’t start and end at steak.

Selections of sides are important components, particularly when you’re dealing with such mammoth amounts of meat. We tried the seasonal veg which came as an array of al dente glistening greens plus the sweet potato fries and classic coleslaw.

BohemiaI’d be lying if I said we finished all the meat. Even the most selfish of sharers won’t be able to eat more than their fair share on this one. Think authentic American steakhouse servings and you’ll have a better idea of what you’re in for.
