DEVOTEES of the finer things in life should not miss The Mere’s evening of food and wine pairing on Friday 8 May.
Each wine has been carefully chosen to bring out the very best in each dish
World class wine connoisseur, Dante Cecchini will be on hand to showcase a selection of Castello Banfi wines from the beautiful Italian regions of Montalcino, Chianti, Piedmont and the Tuscan coast.
These acclaimed wines will accompany a delicious five-course menu. Each wine has been carefully chosen to bring out the very best in each dish, accentuating the flavours to provide a perfect pairing.
The evening begins with an assortment of canapés and a glass of Le Rime Chardonnay/Pinot Grigio from Tuscany.
A Tuscan red complements the summery starter of sun-dried tomato arancini with rocket and pickled shallot salad in a Blacksticks blue cheese dressing.
The main course is a tasty canon of lamb shoulder served with gnocchi, carrot puree, wilted spinach and bolognaise jus. These heart Italian flavours are the perfect partner to both the Rosso di Montalcino and the Brunello di Montalcino which are served with the meal.
A light and fresh sorbet of tiramisu, lemon and mascarpone brings the meal to a close alongside a refreshing glass of pinot grigio before coffee and petits fours are served.
As well as providing insights into the wines tasted on the evening, wine expert Dante Cecchini will also explain how to enhance the taste of your home-cooking with the right wines, chosen for a balance of body and aroma.
The event costs £65 per person. To reserve your place, click here.
