THEIR diner was inspired by favourite childhood movie License to Drive - now the founders of Archie’s have joined Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity for its Many Hands Campaign, in which local businesses sign up to a £1000 fundraising target over the next three months to finance an emergency hospital helipad. The partnership will kickstart regular fundraising efforts as part of Archie’s Foundation - the diner’s new charitable initiative, represented by Coronation Street actor Ryan Thomas.

Archie’s now operate three sites across Manchester Oxford Road and Liverpool’s Ranelagh Street, with more UK venues in the pipeline and plans to franchise stateside following interest by US boxer Floyd Mayweather.
Director Imran Rafiq, who manages the US-inspired chain with his three brothers, said: “The idea of The Archie’s Foundation is to act as the brand’s official charity scheme, which provides combined fundraising activity to support local causes. As a long-time friend of Archie’s, it’s great to have Ryan on-board as our charity ambassador”.

Fundraising will commence with a novel 'Create-a-Shake’ competition, headed by patron Ryan, in which young patients can invent their own milkshake. The winning blend will then be sold in all three Archie’s stores, with £1.50 from each shake going directly to the charity.

As part of the combined efforts from businesses across the North West, we hope to prove the saying true in that ‘many hands make light work’ and work together to continue to improve the facilities of our wonderful hospital.
“As Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital is the largest single site paediatric hospital in the country, it treats children and young adults stretching as far as Cumbria down to Stoke-on-Trent. With that in mind, the installation of a helipad is essential to allow the speedy aid of those who are travelling from a distance".
