Award-winning local baker, Silver Apples, launches new online shop
Many of us have had a go at home baking during lockdown, with mixed results. So if you fancy sending someone a treat and reckon it’s better left to the professionals, then you might be interested to hear that Silver Apples is launching a new online shop this week.
The award-winning bakery, which previously only supplied to the restaurant trade, is now making its hand-made beautifully boxed goodies available to the general public across the UK. This means you can now get whole slabs of its bestselling brownies and bars, gourmet donuts and stacked rainbow cakes delivered to your door – or someone else’s.

The team's new online shop will be the perfect way to enjoy a luxurious treat at home or say ‘thank you,’ ‘happy birthday’ or ‘miss you!’ during this time of being socially separated or in self-isolation.
If you want to create a really special occasion, Silver Apples is also offering exceptional afternoon tea kits delivered to the Manchester area along with a bottle of Gusbourne English sparkling wine (sourced from Reserve Wines), celebration cakes and gourmet donuts as well as slabs of bestselling vegan and gluten-free brownies and bars.
“After ten years of baking for the great and good of the food and drink industry, we’re so excited to launch our online shop and bring our cakes in to the home delivery market,” says Sarah Hanley, director of Stockport-based Silver Apples, which she established in 2009.
Also, if you’re stuck somewhere between missing indulgent soft, warm cookies from your favourite cafe and failing to produce any successfully at home, Silver Apples have produced a new range of bake-at-home cookie dough rolls, ready to slice and bake, including triple chocolate with vanilla and salt flakes, as well as a vegan version with cranberries and spices.
“From supplying small independents through to high street retailers, we pride ourselves on producing products that are hand made, batch produced and hand finished," explains Sarah. "We bake every single product in our bakery from scratch. This is at the very core of our business and appeal and has allowed us to establish ourselves as an artisan bakery with attention to detail, supplying on a large scale to the food consumer market.
“When the country went into lockdown and the hospitality sector was stopped mid-service we realised that we had to mobilise a way for our products to still reach our customers. From this we curated a range of our bars, brownies, gourmet donuts and cupcakes, bake-at-home cookie dough alongside decadent afternoon tea and English sparkling wine to deliver delights with a difference.”
