WHY should Sundays have all the fun? At the Confidential office, we thought we'd start the week on a high and go out for a Monday Lunch. At Zouk, you can enjoy fabulous roast dinners any day of the week, so that's what we did.

The grill menu includes dishes that are a perfect blend of East meets West

The interior is light, spacious and airy; it's a million miles away from the hallucinogenic flock wallpaper or the garish neon lighting of many places serving Indian food. But then again, at Zouk, the curries, delicious though they are, are only half the story.

The grill menu includes dishes that are a perfect blend of East meets West – burgers and steaks that are enlivened with Zouk's expert spicing.

But today, we were here for the big one. A roast leg of lamb. Oh, and a roast chicken. With all the trimmings. All this writing is hungry work, you know.

The lamb must be ordered at least a day in advance because there's a lot of work involved before it's presented to your table, rising majestically from its platter and surrounded by seasonal vegetables.

After being marinated for over six hours in yoghurt, mustard oil and aromatic spices such as fenugreek, chilli, ginger and garlic as well as Zouk's own Tikka paste, the lamb is slow-cooked to perfection. With achingly-soft flesh that falls off the bone, this is a roast dinner you won't forget in a hurry.

With freshly-cooked baby carrots, broccoli and beautiful potatoes, burnished and gleaming, roasted in their skins, Zouk's roast lamb is a real feast that's ideal for sharing with friends or family. It costs £45 but as it feeds up to five people, it's astonishingly good value.

And as for the gravy, what gravy. It's thick and full of layers of flavour that have been built up by using bones in the stock, as evidenced by the sauce's glossy sheen. It's laced with chilli, garlic and ginger and packs a real punch.

The whole roasted chicken doesn't need ordering in advance. The meat is tender and moreish, so much so that we picked the carcass clean. Served with a chicken tikka sauce, it serves two and costs just £20.

If you've got a big family gathering planned and you really want to go the whole hog, or the whole lamb to be precise, Zouk offer a real roast banquet for £395 that serves up to ten people. The whole roasted lamb stuffed with spiced rice and served with roasted potatoes and vegetables is certainly a spectacular affair.

So next time you fancy a Sunday Roast, no matter what day of the week, why not see what Zouk has to offer?
