HUGELY popular pay-as-you-stay café, Ziferblat, has announced the launch of its second regional branch in MediaCityUK.

What’s great about Ziferblat is that its quirky concept lends itself perfectly to creatives

The Russian-founded ‘anti café’ chain - which charges users 6p a minute for as much tea, cake and wi-fi as they can consume – will occupy a 6,000 sq ft unit on the ground floor of MediaCityUK’s newest creative, tech and digital office building, Tomorrow (next to Booth’s).

With its snug, homely vibe, the MediaCityUK branch will attempt to emulate the success of its Northern Quarter cousin, which opened to instant success on Edge Street in early-2015, soon smashing the global Ziferblat record by welcoming 417 punters in just one day.

There’s currently 16 Ziferblats across Europe, with branches in London, Liverpool, Moscow and Kiev.

Before the fit-out commences, Ziferblat is launching a consultation with businesses and residents of MediaCityUK so their ideas and requirements can be incorporated into its interior design.

Colin Shenton, CEO of Ziferblat UK and Ireland said: “We are really excited to be launching the MediaCityUK Ziferblat in early 2017 and bringing our unique offering to the hub of digital and media creatives who live and work there.

"It’s important to us that every branch is different and meets the requirements of those visiting us, which is why we are taking this collaborative approach and consulting occupiers and residents before commencing the fit-out – we’re open to ideas and welcome feedback.”

MediaCityUK’s asset manager, Lynn Haime, said: “Tomorrow will be home to some of the region’s most innovative and exciting SMEs across the broadcast, digital, media and tech sectors. What’s great about Ziferblat is that its quirky concept lends itself perfectly to creatives – it’s relaxed, welcoming and something a little bit different, and we’re confident it’s going to be a great addition to the MediaCityUK community.”

The Chapman Taylor-designed Tomorrow building launched at the end of September, comprising eight floors of creative workspace and a 112-bed Premier Inn hotel.
