ORGANISED dating events are few people's idea of a fun-filled night out, but this one might just have got it right.
Wine-tasting dating is a new way of meeting fellow single-folk, in a less awkward, less forced way than speed dating or internet dates.
Anna Whitehead from Across a Crowded Room is bringing the idea to Manchester, with two wine-tasting dating events coming up at Grinch.
Says Anna, “Some dating events can feel like a production line, and some people just don’t flourish under the pressure of having only a few minutes to talk and get to know someone.
“Our guests can relax and get to know each other without that time pressure. Our blind wine-tasting quiz is the perfect way to break the ice, and each event is overseen by a professional host.”
Events are less full-on than pressurised one-on-one speed dating, and avoid all the tackiness of lock and key and dating parties.
The events are structured, so guests have the chance to talk to everyone, and the group format allows for more relaxed, natural conversation. Plus, there's no admin the next day.
The ticket price of £25 includes four glasses of wine, hot and cold bar snacks, a blind tasting quiz, and of course the opportunity to use the ‘dating cards’ to be put in touch with the people you’d like to see again.
The next event to be held is 16 July (ages 28-40) at Grinch in the city centre. If you'd like to go, book your place on the Across a Crowded Room website: www.acrossacrowdedroom.co.uk
