Match made in heaven as Tobwlos teams up with Street Urchin
MATCHING wine to food is one of our favourite pastimes, we’ll admit. So imagine our delight when we heard that new ‘English market diner’ on the block (the block where Newton Street meets Great Ancoats Street, to be exact) Street Urchin has teamed up its culinary skills with the expert vintners Tobelos for a one-night-only wine makers dinner.
Taking place on Monday 28 October at 7.30pm (get there from 7pm), the Tobelos Wine Makers Dinner will see a menu from the Street Urchin chefs plus specially paired wines chosen and supplied by contemporary Spanish wine company Tobelos Bodegas y Viñedos, along with a speaker to take you through each.

Tickets are £60 per head, and include wine matched to each of the five courses. Already making a name for itself on the Manchester dining scene, Street Urchin is a modern and airy kitchen and bar, with a focus on stunning seasonal food, made from scratch on site, and drink, including some great wines.
The line-up for the evening of the Tobelos Wine Makers Dinner starts with a bit of fizz, courtesy the Cava Brut Rosado, Castell d’Olerdola, served up alongside canapé-style nibbles of Pomegranate & Pistachio Labneh Tart and Cured Trout Crostini. Starters is a Seafood Bisque made in the Street Urchin kitchen and a glass of Bodegas Tobelos Barrel Fermented White. Onto the reds and Bodegas Tobelos Rioja Crianza is paired with a hearty plate of Braised Venison Pasty, Pickled Blackcurrants and Fennel & Shallot Salad. Mutton/lamb Reform and Creamed Ham Hock Cabbage meets its match in Bodegas Tobelos Garnacha Crianza then there’s another of Spain’s famous Rioja as the Tahon de Tobelos Rioja Reserva is rolled out for the Grilled Halloumi with Roasted Honey Figs afters.
Sounds like the perfect team.
