IF you're interested in Spanish food and drink and want to explore it on a deeper level, keep an eye on Lunya's website – there's always something intriguing in their calendar. Their events programme puts some of the smaller food festivals to shame, with regular tastings, masterclasses and themed dinners.

This is a beast of a steak – a full, on-the-bone, rib eye from 10-year-old, ex-dairy cows grass fed in Galicia.

Coming up in the next month, they've got a gin tasting night, a ham carving class, and a Father's Day Meat Feast. (We know some dads who'd be happy to be treated to any one of the three.)

To book for any of these events, call Lunya Manchester on 0161 413 3317 or email manchester@lunya.co.uk. Read on for full details of each.

Father's Day Meat Feast

Sunday 19 June

When they say 'feast', they mean it. It's Lunya's popular Parrillada de Carne – a giant mixed grill featuring BBQ Ibérico ribs, lamb chops, chicken, steak pincho, chorizo, butifarra and morcilla, with salad and patatas bravas. And at just £20.95 or £31.50 with tapas starters and dessert, it's a bit of a bargain.

If Dad deserves an extra special treat, take him for a Chuleton. This is a beast of a steak – a full, on-the-bone, rib eye from 10-year-old, ex-dairy cows grass fed in Galicia. With sweet yellow fat and a succulent, deep flavour, it's very different to British steak.

You can have one as a sharing tapa for a group, or as a main for two or three people. The steaks are approximately 1kg to 1.3kg, and must be pre-booked and pre-paid for at a price of £60. Lunya will import one especially for you – get Dad excited in advance by telling him his Father's Day dinner is being personally sourced and shipped over from Spain.

Ham Carving Masterclass

Tuesday 28 June, 6.30pm until approximately 9pm

Lunya has been running these masterclasses for five years and they're always a sell out. This time the teacher will be Mario Hiraldo, an expert master carver whose family produces some of the best Iberico hams in Spain. The night includes a ham carving demonstration, a talk from Mario, a chance to practice carving yourself, and a ham and wine feast, with three paired wines, snacks and tapitas. Tickets are £55 per person including all of the above.

Gin Tasting Night

Wednesday 6 July

An informal evening for those who like to think gin, talk gin and drink gin. You'll hear about how gin is made from John O’Dowd of the award-winning Liverpool Gin Company, before you have a guided tasting of their gins and Lunya's range of stunning Spanish gins. A variety of tapitas and ingredients will be served too.

Tickets are £29.95 per person including seven gins, tapitas and a 10% off voucher for any gin purchased on the night.

To book for any of these events, call Lunya on 0161 413 3317 or email manchester@lunya.co.uk.
