The bold hotel and diner is set to open this December
Hotel and diner brand Mollie’s will open its brand-new Manchester site next month.
Set to be the hospitality brand’s most ambitious launch to date, Mollie’s Manchester will feature a bold and luxurious design and feel with playful nods to that of American roadside motels and diners.
Re-inventing the Old Granada TV Studios, the hotel will offer 128 rooms across five floors - ranging from classic doubles and twins, bunk rooms and interconnecting family rooms, to studios and luxe suites featuring freestanding bathtubs, walk-in wardrobes and even Peloton bikes - with prices starting at £120 per night.
The Manchester hotel will be the third site to join the brand’s portfolio, developing from the first road-side motel-and-diner sites in Oxfordshire and Bristol, and is the company’s first extensive city-centre property.
Granada’s TV’s output was always resolutely ‘from the North’, representing the culture, creativity and diversity of the region. Mollie’s own vision is to create a vibrant and inclusive social hub in the heart of the bustling city of Manchester, bringing people together to work, stay and play.
The building has been reimagined but continues to preserve its modernist façade. The interior also makes playful nods to the building’s media history. Rooms feature dark wood panelling, terrazzo and aged brass finishes, rain showers and even Dyson Airwraps, GHD straighteners and Cowshed toiletries for an extra touch of luxury.
This floor also includes an 80sq metre private apartment with an open plan living room with kitchenette, dining table and lounge area and a connecting second bedroom.
The first floor will feature a state-of-the-art gym for Mollie’s guests. This will include a free weights area, studio space, and steam and sauna, all opening onto a balcony with casual seating. Changing rooms will have showers, vanity areas and lounge spaces to unwind after training.
On the ground floor, Mollie’s classic diner has been subtly re-imagined to suit Manchester’s urban style, with capacity for over 140 guests at any given time. This modern take on the retro-American diner means guests can choose to dine at classic counter seating or relax into luxe leather banquettes inspired by the interior of a vintage Cadillac.
Also on the ground floor, the generously-sized lounge-lobby doubles as a bar, food-on-the-go and sociable co-working space. A number of private meeting rooms and lounges will be available for hire.
On the lower ground floor, a large open-plan cocktail bar with live music and entertainment will be available for both hotel guests and visitors. The space includes a private-hire green room, VIP bar and snug, and an outdoor heated terrace.
Reflecting its creative approach to art and design, Mollie’s will be working with a series of local Manchester-based artists to create bespoke artworks for the rooms and public spaces. Championing the rich creative talent of the North of England, the Mollie’s Manchester art collection will bring together some of the region’s most exciting and innovative artists.
Mollie’s Manchester will open to the public on Monday 8 December. To find out more and book a stay, visit mollies.com/manchester.
