Independent businesses have got together to offer late night shopping and deals

A range of independent businesses in Urmston have joined forces to encourage people to shop local by launching a monthly evening of late openings, discounts and special deals starting this Thursday 18th April.

Indie Urmston has been created to support the independent economy of Urmston, and looks to promote the rejuvenation of Urmston as a place to visit. The Trafford suburb is just nine minutes away from the city centre by train, or a five minute drive from the Trafford Centre.

We have a really strong community of local businesses who are willing to work together to encourage people from outside of Urmston to visit

Local bars and restaurants, fishmongers, clothes shops and record stores in the Trafford suburb have come together in an attempt to showcase what the town has to offer shoppers. The collective aim of local businesses is to promote Indie Urmston and encourage people away from the city centre, or huge shopping malls, and try shopping in their local area instead. Starting on the 18th April and every third Thursday of the month, a whole host of local shops will offer discounts.

Three beer venues will also offer discounts on takeaway purchases on the evening, with deals available from The Assembly, Craft Brewtique and Prairie Schooner. Urmston’s own wine bar, Kelder, will also be offering discounts on the night, with offers on all wineshop purchases until close.

Scott Power, co-founder of Indie Urmston and proprietor of Get Chucked said ‘It is great to see all the independents in Urmston coming together to promote how our town’s offering is growing. It shows that we have a really strong community of local businesses who are willing to work together to encourage people from outside of Urmston to visit, as well as giving locals more of an opportunity to shop local with longer opening hours on a regular basis.’
