ABLUTIONS | The Lowry | Fri 3 April

FellSwoop Theatre presents Ablutions: a dark, modern drama adapted from the novel by Man Booker-shortlisted author, Patrick DeWitt. It's a grimly funny tale from the sodden depths of the Los Angeles underworld and surrounds a bartender 'sipping top-shelf whiskey, watching his customers descend into nightly oblivion'. Ablutions blends a live soundtrack with detailed mime and deWitt's heart-wrenching humour.

Michael Flatley is back with new staging of the traditional Irish dance masterpiece Lord Of The Dance: Dangerous Games. The new production features new staging, new costumes and choreography.  With 40 of the world's most outstanding young performers directed by Michael Flatley with new music by composer Gerard Fahy.

Rebecca is the timeless tale of love and jealously by author Daphne Du Maurier, previously adapted into a psycological thriller by the legendary filmaker Alfred Hitchcock. Now a stage production (directed and adapted by award-winner Emma Rice), Rebecca will detail the circumstances following Maxim de Winter, the mysterious death of his first wife, and his new young bride.

The acclaimed poet and spoken word artist, Hollie Mcnesh, will recite words on love, politics, race, breasts and all that comes in between. Hollie's poems are said to 'captivate and move audiences to feel something that is sorely lacking in the industry today'.

 

JOSEPHINE TEWSON - Still Keeping Up Appearances? | Stockport Plaza | Sat 25 April

Josephine Tewson, best remembered as Hyacinth Bucket’s long-suffering neighbour Elizabeth in Keeping Up Appearances, brings her one woman show to the Stockport Plaza. Josephine has starred in scores of television comedies including Frost On Sunday, The Two Ronnies, The Charlie Drake Show, Shelley and Last of the Summer Wine to name but a few. In her one woman show she talks about her early years in British theatre, the move into television comedy and her ill-fated but hilarious marriage to Leonard Rossiter.

With renditions of female-power songs I’m Every Woman, I Want To Break Free and Somebody Else’s Guy, Claire Sweeney stars in and co-writes this brand new comedy about dating, men and finding Mr Right. THE WOMAN IN BLACK | The Lowry | Tue 28 April - Sat 2 May 

Hailed as a terrifying masterpiece and recently adapted into a major motion picture starring Daniel Radcliffe, The Woman In Black is considered one of the world's greatest ghost stories. Adapted by Stephen Mallatratt from the novel by Susan Hill, this production is now celebrating 25 years in the West End.

Accompanied by talented artists, choreographer Hofesh Shechter presents a loud, smoky collision of music and dance exclusively for HOME. The evening gives audiences the first look at Shechter’s new short work, the second part of a trilogy that features dancers from his world-class ensemble.
