Summer is here which means Bury town centre is set to be taken over by a packed programme of events, activities and experiences. Taking place across the town’s venues, attractions and public spaces, this year’s programme offers something for all ages with entertainment, creativity and community spirit at the heart of its mission.
This summer, visitors can enjoy:
- Wax and Beans (Throughout July) - Live in-store performances, album launches and intimate gigs from both emerging and established artists.
- Bury Art Museum (Throughout July)
- Victoria Wood Exhibition
- Family-friendly history activities
- Creative workshops
- Summer arts programme
- Summer Diesel Gala - East Lancashire Railway (2th–5th July) - Four days of diesel-powered action featuring guest locomotives, brake van rides and special railway experiences.
- Gavin Fairhall Lever - The Met (3rd July) - Contemporary folk, Celtic traditions and jazz influences combine in a vibrant live performance.
- Mama – The All Era Genesis Tribute Band - The Met (4th July) - A celebration of Genesis classics spanning the Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins eras.
- Bury Film Festival 2026 (8th July) - A brand-new film festival launching in Bury, creating a platform for filmmakers, content creators and emerging creative talent. With submissions now officially open, the festival aims to showcase independent film, celebrate local creativity and strengthen Bury's growing cultural offer.
- Day Out With Thomas™ - East Lancashire Railway (18th–19th July) - A family favourite with train rides, live entertainment, character appearances and themed activities.
- World Cup Fever Challenge - The Rock Shopping Centre (Until 19th July) - A free, interactive football-themed challenge designed for families and visitors to the town centre.
- Bury BID Food & Drink Festival (24th–26th July) - One of the biggest events in the town centre calendar returns for its third year, celebrating Bury's food, drink and hospitality offer. The festival will feature street food, artisan traders, local producers, live entertainment, community events and the popular Hong Kong Market at Kay Gardens.
- K-Pop Party at Bury Transport Museum - East Lancashire Railway (31st July) - An interactive sing-and-dance-along experience inspired by the world of K-pop.
- Emerging Showcase (31st July) - A platform for the next generation of local musical talent.
- Glaston-Bury - (Bank Holiday Monday, 31 August) - The much-loved community music festival returns, raising funds for Bury Hospice and local causes. Established in 2008, Glaston-Bury features multiple indoor and outdoor stages, hundreds of performers, family entertainment, food and drink, and attracts thousands of visitors to the town centre every Bank Holiday Monday. The event has raised more than £300,000 for local charities since its launch.
As well as a jam-packed events programme, the town centre offers a vibrant mix of shopping, dining and leisure experiences, including the award-winning Bury Market.
