AGATHA CHRISTIE'S BLACK COFFEE | Opera House | Monday 17 - Saturday 29 November

In the first play ever written by Agatha Christie we are introduced to a character who went on to become the most famous detective of all time and the only fictional character ever to receive a full-page obituary in the New York Times: Hercule Poirot. Heartbeat's Jason Durr stars in the role of the famous Belgian sleuth.

NORTHERN BALLET CINDERELLA | Palace Theatre | Tuesday 18 - Saturday 22 November 

Set in Imperial Russia at a time when superstitious people believe in the possibility of magic, Northern Ballet’s new adaptation of this classic fairytale sees heartbreak turn to joy as the unstoppable power of young love conquers all. The ballet will introduce a new score from Philip Feeney played live by Northern Ballet Sinfonia.

Based on interviews with Muslim female boxers, No Guts, No Heart, No Glory is devised in collaboration with five 16-23 year-old performers and explores being young, fearless and doing the unexpected. The performance combines live electronic sound score, bold visual design, cinematic lighting and the energy of a boxing club.

Based on the classic Tim Burton motion picture, this dance production by Matthew Bourne (featuring the music of Danny Elfman and Terry Davies) tells the bittersweet story of an unfinished boy creation with scissors for hands in a strange new world. Great for families during the festive season.

In this centenary year of the birth of Dylan Thomas, hear the untold story of his courageous, humorous, talented daughter. This performance will feature anecdotes, recitations of Dylan Thomas's work and personal accounts of his daughter's life and work. Devised and performed by Anne Rutter and featuring Stephen Thorne. Also included are family photos and video footage of a previously unseen interview with Aeronwe.

UK beat-boxing champion Grace Savage explores what young people are hearing in the world today, from motherly advice to what we learn in the school playground and the music charts. The performance is described as 'an interrogation into the influences on young people today'.
