Dip into the new menu at Blue Lobster
ELEGANT eating – that’s what we’ve come to expect from Blue Lobster in go-to dining destination Alderley Edge. So when recently installed head chef Alessio Lanzoni said he’d updated the menu, we were just a teensy bit apprehensive about what we might find on our next visit.
Lobster is, of course, in abundance, from the restaurant’s signature breadcrumbed beast to risotto all’astice – perhaps the prettiest dish we’ve ever seen!
No need. Absolutely no need at all. Alessio has taken the brief – classic combined with contemporary, ultra-fresh, authentically Italian ingredients and ideas – and added his own touch.
Lobster is, of course, in abundance, from the restaurant’s signature dish of whole or half a breadcrumbed beast to the risotto all’astice – perhaps the prettiest dish we’ve ever seen!
Other seafood dishes include seared scallops, on creamy cauli purée complimented by salty anchovies and pancetta, and melt-in-the-mouth roasted baby octopus teamed with a silky paprika oil.
Fresh fish is a big feature, and now includes a daily catch, so there’s something new on each trip, although we might not stray far from the delicious meaty monkfish parcelled up with prawns.
The new menu also sees more for the meat-lover and vegetarian, so everyone can get a piece of the elegant action – the tender and tasty sirloin is served with creamy mash and your choice of sauce, while the schnitzel-style Costoletta alla Milanese is perfectly thin and crispy.
The homemade desserts round things off nicely; squeeze in an Espresso Martini off the newly revamped cocktail menu to help you digest (any excuse!).
