Exhibition – ‘Smashed’ Private View at 2022NQ
Manchester Mosaicist, Amanda McCrann will be exhibitioning her new work at the ‘Smashed’ private view at 2022NQ this Friday. The exhibition will show images of the general Mancunian public with her iconic Mancunian mosaics at different locations within the city. Simply put, she will show Manc’s with a Manc-like mosaic in a Manc setting. It couldn’t really be any more Northern.
The exhibition, at 20/22 Dale Street in the Northern Quarter, is from 6pm-9pm, and the venue will be hosting an aftershow, which will stay open until 2am. The night will consist of a performance from Mike Garry, a (you guessed it) Mancunian poet, coffee and Totes Amazeball cakes courtesy of Tim Burgess’ Tim Peaks diner and music from DJ Pasta Paul.

Market- Emmaus Manchester Street Market
Take a trip to St Ann’s Square on Saturday and grab a bargain from the Emmaus market. On sale will be an array of goods, from great quality recycled furniture to vintage clothes, from collectables to kitchenware; the shabby-chic item of your dreams may be waiting at this market. The market is open from 10am-5pm, with an official opening by Terry Waite, president of Emmaus at 10am. The charity emmaus helps former homeless people become self supportive. At the market, grabbing yourself a bargain will go a long way in helping the Emmaus community to become sustainable.
Club – Funkademia at Mint Lounge
This Saturday, head down to Mint Lounge for Manchesters longest running club night, Funkademia. DJ Dave Redsoul plays hip-shakin funk, electric disco and soul music. Funkademia feeds the friendly crowd a diet of pure unadulterated soul-funk, week after week. Entry is £5 before 11pm and £6 after.

Gig – Patti Smith and Her Band at Manchester Academy
Iconic punk goddess Patti Smith will be playing at Manchester Academy this Friday. Some tickets for the American singer-songwriters gig are still available for £25. Sport - Try Paralympic Sport at the Closing Ceremony
Ever wondered how the Paralympians do it? This Saturday and Sunday, you can try out a range of Paralympic sports at the Exchange Square site for free, from 12-5pm. Dabble in wheelchair basketball, boccia and road cycling on modified bikes, including hand bikes and tricycles. Sunday also sees the curtain call on the Paralympics. Be a part of the closing ceremony whilst taking advantage of the Hope and Glory bar on Exchange Square for one final time. The build up to the ceremony will be broadcast from 7pm; the ceremony itself takes place at 8:30pm-11:15pm, culminating in a performance from Coldplay.

The Bandstand Marathon
On Sunday, Bandstands throughout the UK will be simultaneously hosting a bandstand marathon comprising musical delights for the community. Local talent, whether it be bhangra, rock, blues or brass bands, will be brought to the stage and celebrated, offering a sound to suit every ear. Unique renditions of Coldplay’s hit ‘Viva La Vida’ will be played and sung in unison at 2pm from each and every bandstand, to mark the end of the paralympic games. The event takes place at 1pm-5pm at various bandstands in Manchester and Greater Manchester, including Heaton Park in Manchester, Clarence Park in Bury, High Street in Oldham and Vernon Park in Stockport.

Entertainment - Last Night of the Proms, Live on the Big Screen
The big screen at Exchange Square is also playing host to the Last Night of the Proms. If orchestral, classic music sings your tune, then head down to the free event on Saturday, from 7:30pm-11pm and join in with the Royal Albert Hall shenanigans.

If you fancy hiding from Manchester’s expected heat wave, then catch a showing of Odeon Cinemas’ British film of the month, Anna Karenina, which is released this Friday. It is an adaptation of Leo Tolstoy’s 19th Century Russian novel which follows aristocrat, Anna Karenina (Keira Knightley) as she embarks on a life changing affair, in the ultimate act of love and betrayal.
