Art - Hockney to Hogarth Exhibition, Whitworth Art Gallery
The Whitworth Gallery has long been home to the influential William Hogarth’s 18th Century series of prints ‘The Rakes Progress’. The gallery has now been given the contemporary works of the same name by David Hockney. Hockney was inspired by Hogarth’s original series to create his own witty take across a range of different mediums including prints, musical performance and poetry. The ‘Hockney To Hogarth’ exhibition will see the two artists’ work displayed side by side as they tell the visual story of their characters trip to New York through two different centuries.
